Abigayle & Katya

There is a very special young lady living in Goose Creek who is becoming a favorite of the Charleston Kennel Club. Abigayle Williams became known to us after an article in the local newspaper explained that she was in need of an assistance dog. Nine year old Abigayle was born with neuro-bibromatosis Type 1 which results in seizures that can occur at any time. Katya, a specially trained German shepherd dog, can alert Abigayle and her parents of impending seizures so she can get medication. Katya can also help prevent Abigayle from falling.

We are looking forward to having this remarkable pair come and visit our club. Katya, who now attends Boulder Bluff Elementary School with her charge has quite a story of her own that Abigayle would like to tell.

The cost of purchasing and maintaining Katya is considerable and the CKC has helped in paying for this wonderful dog. More funds are needed. You can make individual contributions to the Abigayle Williams Fund at any First Federal Bank.
